We have been coming to Cliff’s for 5+ years and I was disappointed to see anyone would give them anything less than a 5 star review. But, that happens sometimes when you get a customer looking to cut corners or wanting something for nothing. It doesn’t matter where you go to have your car worked on, the odds are likely, especially if you haven’t kept up maintenance on your vehicle, that you’re going to hear some things you don’t like. However, not every garage will be honest about what needs to be done and what can wait.
Husband does most of our vehicle repairs & maintenance. There are few things he can’t do, doesn’t have the tools to do, or it’s just too darn cold outside. Five years or so ago, we needed to find a garage. Started asking around for recommendations. TWO different people highly recommended Cliff’s. We made an appointment, it was reasonable, the people were wonderful, it was fixed, we left… and started referring family there (niece, mom-in-law, and the kid).
We were most blown away by Cliff’s integrity a couple years ago when my sweet mom-in-law took her car in with a laundry list of things needing done. She was given a ballpark quote for $1k or so in repairs over the phone, which she had saved up to have done. Dropped the car off, it went up on the hoist, and Cliff’s called back immediately to inform her that her frame was rusting out. They recommended that she not put money into it.
Another kind of garage would have looked the other way and taken her money. We already liked Cliff’s, but that told us A LOT about how they do business!!!
We were back in last week with a new-to-us car we bought knowing it would need work. Besides some maintenance, there were issues with the hood hinges & latch and the interior door handle. Literally, plated the car and dropped it off for a thorough inspection. Cliff’s got us a quote. After digging in to the work, they determined there were parts they didn’t need to order after all. First time – ever – I’ve seen the final cost be less than the quote. Again, IF Cliff’s were “another” kind of garage, they could have just charged us parts & labor and not done the work.
So, to sum up… Cliff’s is the kind of garage that we trusted sending mom, a kid, and a niece to, to have repairs done. It’s a family business, clearly built on integrity, that’s been around for 2-3 generations and they provide top notch service.
If you’re reading through reviews trying to figure out if Cliff’s is the place to go, keep in mind they have no need to advertise to lure folks in.... or do that “hard sell” to get people to have work done. (They WILL tell you if something can wait.) Their customers come from word-of-mouth. 😊
(We like that Accurate Tire Guy too that's in-house.)
Thank you!!
